Hugo Ferdinand Boss (7-8-1885/8-9-1948)
Hugo Ferdinand Boss, was born in July 1885, at the small city of Metzingen- Stuttgart, where it became also apprentice as tradesman. In 1908 he undertook his father’s underwear shop and in 1914 he served his country in the First World War.
In the years of postwar he founds his own company of clothes in Metzingen and in 1924 also a factory with two associates.
The company initially produced shirts, jackets and later, clothing of work, the athletic clothes and raincoats.
In 1930 Hugo designed the uniforms of SA, SS and other battalions of social-democratic party; also the uniforms of postmen, employees of railways as well as Wermacht (Maximum military administration of Hitler in Germany). However, the bad economic climate that prevailed in Germany this season, led Boss in bankruptcy.
In 1931, by agreement with his lenders, were granted to him 6 sewing machines. The same year, it was included as member in the party of Hitler and constituted one from his important financiers.
Having the power of Nazi party with his part, his finances were improved and his sales were ejected. He was the main designer and supplier of uniforms in all members and battalions of Nazi party. He was also Hitler's official tailor.
However, the future for the founder of house Boss was ominous. After the
war (1946), and because of the support and his attendance in the Nazi party, was removed by him the right of voting, the possibility of having any enterprise and a fine of 70.553 dollars.
He died in August 1948.
1950-1990
Nevertheless, the enterprise of Boss changes form. In the beginnings 1950,
the company from derivative uniforms of work, passes in the creation of first suits. In 1960 acquire international substance and brand Boss became acquaintance in the all world, as symbol of elegance and incomparable style.
In 1984, the company advanced in the creation of a perfume, which constitutes one from the most achieved in the world of fashion, with sales that exceeded each expectation. In 1995 the first shoes were produced, with the Boss brand.
In our days, the company constitutes one of the most profitable; always connected with the elegance and the exceptional quality. Has innumerable supporters while each man, has a piece of the company in his wardrobe.
Today the company has 5 brands, each
one with different goods of clothes:
- Boss Black : includes modern and classic clothes, with the biggest variety.
- Boss Orange : Clothes with lightly eccentric style and bohemian influences. This line recreated in 2010 with Denim and Casual styles
- Boss Green : In the past with the name Boss Sport. Includes collections in golf style.
- Boss Selection :
It constitutes the most
precise line of clothes of company. Focusing at the “mature” market and giving base at the English tailoring style
- Hugo : Clothes with European influences, inspired by prevailed trends.
Having a big, but not good history, the Boss company
is one of the most
important institutions of worldwide
fashion. Clothes distinguish for their elegance.
