Carey Mulligan

This week’s Style Crush is the ever lovely Carey Mulligan!

Carey’s blossomed from a relative unknown to ‘’the new Audrey Hepburn’’ of Hollywood.

With films like An Education, Pride & Prejudice and Shame under her belt and with the most recent, the ever fashionable Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, she has become a rising star and likely to gain more accolades for her roles.

On to her style, Carrey combines boho-chic and mod, not necessarily at the same time.

Loose fitting clothes, pixie haircut, jackets, suit pants and ballet shoes are almost a permanent companion to her looks.

Here are some of her best moments.

A simple Spring/Summer look in earth tones that fit every skin tone.

Although maxi skirts seem difficult if you have not got the perfect figure (and who does?), don’t panic!

If you are a tall woman, like Mulligan (she stands at 170cm!), then you’re good to go with a pair of flats.

If you’re shorter, then heeled boots will do the trick for you and nobody has to know.

If you want some added curves to your body, pleats are the way to go. If you want a more slimming effect, choose one with a more straight

Items:

An easy look for all times; Carey chooses a grey and black colour-block sweater, giving a graphic element to the look.

Paired with pointy flats it makes the outfit ever more interesting.

More colour block elements from Carey; this time a biker jacket. Make sure you keep everything else monochromatic or close to the colours of your jacket.

#3DPrinting

#3DPrinting

Although 3D Printing may have sounded as something coming out of Star Trek a few years back, it isn’t so unusual anymore.

3D Printers have been gaining more ground as the years go by, offering us possibilities in design, we could possibly never have dreamed of.

Architects and designers have been using them for years now; and where those two go, fashion will inevitably follow.

Soon fashion designers caught up with the new technique of printing and have been entranced by the possibilities that have opened, in creating their own new textiles and forms.

Ejing Zhang, Tote Bag (2014)

In Athens this winter at the ONASSIS CULTURAL CENTRE we saw an exhibition that looked from the future, yet we were certainly in the present.

From Sculpture to Medicine, from Architecture to Fashion, this relatively small exhibition of videos, interactive documentaries and exhibits answered many of our questions of how exactly a 3D Printer works, the materials used, the designs that need to be created…

 Gabriela Ligenza, Hat Collection (2014)

Presently the easiest raw material to use as the "ink" in 3D Printers is plastic. However the future promises a full range of fabric types including cotton, wool and silk which will be used as the basis for 3D printed garments.

Already "Smart fabric" is becoming a new trend and could result in fabrics changing their colour or texture according to the surroundings. Fabric will no longer be static but an interactive and active inspiration for fashion.

Vassilis Thom

Dreams, Passion, Creation : the three words that characterize his work. He is a talented designer and his talent is reflected in his creations. He has a lot more to give to the magical and full of surprises world of fashion.

His new collection is impresive. The way he combines luxurious-elegance with dirty street style is unique; amazing pieces, for men and women, in minimal line, splendid details and exceptional quality. They are suitable for each circumstance.

The materials are carefully selected, down to the last detail. He is a lover of perfection but an enemy of mediocrity. Variety of colors with accent in the opposition of black with white. Cotton buckrams, lace, tulle, muslin, velvet, skin, check, constitute the bases of uniqueness of his clothes.

We asked him about his new inspiration.

“The inspiration emanated from my recent travels in New York, Boston, and some stops in Munich and Frankfurt. This time I wanted to give an air of city and another aesthetic impression of “today” in the biggest metropolises”

The style of city is reflected in his clothes. His new work gives us something different and elegant simultaneously. These two constitute the definition of success, which is ensured for him.
He loves fashion, and he converts that love in creation. The Looks that follow will impress even the most exigent

  Women.
