Ah… Winter! The fashionable season! The season of jumpers, boots, scarves, hats and coats… speaking of coats, how many of you bought a brand new coat last year or a couple of years ago and you’re kind of bored of it by now?
How many of you have lost
a few pounds and now your coat does not fit so well?
How many of you have the
same good, sturdy, old coat that lacks a certain edge, but don’t want to
replace it yet?
Many!
Now here’s a simple trick;
belt it!
Here are a few points you should keep in mind:
- If you
want simply a cinched waist, find a belt that is the same colour as your coat,
i.e. black belt for a black coat.
- If you want to make a
statement, choose a bright coloured belt.
- Bright coloured coats
are complimented by bright coloured belts and toned down by pastel coloured
ones.
- For a bulky coat,
like fur or parkas, choose a thinner belt. For thinner coats, a wider belt.
- Always
buy one or two sizes larger belts than the one on your jeans.

Menswear is something that
women have embraced in the past years; from boyfriend jeans, to button up
shirts, from oversized watches to lace up Oxfords, women seem far more
comfortable in men’s clothes.
And why not? They have an
ease and elegance more so sometimes than womenswear.
Let’s not forget that the
menswear form has remained the same (more or less) for decades, whereas women’s
clothes have been changing every year or so…
So it’s no surprise that
the boyfriend coats are now a huge trend.
Looking as if something your grandfather would probably wear, their slouchy, easy-going and sturdy style is a perfect addition to any wardrobe this winter… and they’re most likely to remain there for years to come!

Florence Welch
When discussing her fashion style, Welch said; "For the stage, it's The Lady of Shalott meets Ophelia...mixed with a scary gothic bat lady. But in real life I'm kind of prim"
One thing is for sure;
Florence Welch has an impeccable sense of style, with a voice to match!
Noticed for her red curls
and daring, but nonchalant dresses, she is a sight to behold on stage.
On the streets she likes
to keep some of that nonchalance; she’s not afraid to add colour and patterns
and hats are a constant companion of hers; which if you are a red head is a
good thing to have to prevent the colour from fading. ;)

Don’t be afraid to
experiment with a patterned coat. Simply choose them wisely to match the colour
pallete of your wardrobe, if you are a bit shy, or choose a bolder coat if you
want your outerwear and accessories to stand out.
Keep the rest simple and
you’re good to go!

My favourite look of those three! A bit more formal, yet easy once again, Florence keeps the coat, hat and shoes in the same colour and adds complementary colours and jewels.
That’s a neat trick if you
don’t know how to combine a lot of colours; keep one as your base, then add
another one in small parts of your outfit to make it more pleasant and add your
favourite jewels in moderation.
In conclusion, I think
that Florence Welch is one of the most interesting, well dressed musicians out
there. She keeps an element of the performance in her real life and that makes
it more interesting…
I think we should all
dress with a bit of colour and ease, as she does.
